1-Pyrenebutanol, an alcohol, is an organic building block. It participates in the polymerization of cyclic esters (lactide, δ-valerolactone and ε-caprolactone). It may be employed to investigate fluorescent substrates in allosteric mechanisms, prepare fluorescent polymer based products by ring-opening polymerization and synthesis of 1-Pyrenebutanol labelled nanoparticles.
