Nucleic acids are incubated with the primer at 37°C for 1 hour
This primer is a mixture of single-stranded random hexanucleotides with 5'- and 3'-hydroxyl ends. The primer is supplied as an aqueous solution and can be used for first strand cDNA synthesis in presence of reverse transcriptase. Random hexamer primer is one of the three primers that can be used during cDNA synthesis. It is used to produce cDNAs randomly scattered through mRNA. The resultant product would be short strands of cDNA.
First strand cDNA synthesis.
