Application
Used in the detection of, e.g., Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus species. X-a-Glc is transformed by the alpha-D-glucosidase enzyme and forms a blue precipitate in solutions or media. Alpha-D-glucosidase positive bacteria appear as blue-green colonies on agar plates.
